Why Getting Out of the Day-to-Day Matters
Finding Perspective Outside the Grind
At Formula 50, we believe good business ideas don’t just come from boardrooms or spreadsheets. They come from moments when you step away long enough to see things differently.
That’s something Justin has lived for years. As a kid, he traveled across the country with his family and spent time in the Boy Scouts. Those experiences taught him the value of getting out of your comfort zone — not to disconnect, but to reset and reframe. When you’re walking around a new city, you see problems and possibilities in a new light. You rarely turn on the TV. You just take things in. That mindset still fuels how we approach building companies today.
Inspiration Through Change
Running a business can pull you into the day-to-day grind. It’s easy to confuse motion with progress. But sometimes the best thing you can do is step back. Inspiration comes from changing your surroundings, talking to people outside your industry, or even just trying something new for the sake of it.
That kind of reset is what led Justin to launch Seven Corners years ago, and it’s what led to Formula 50 now. We know what it’s like to start something without a clear map — to think you know what you’re building until real conversations show you what’s missing. Those early days at Seven Corners taught us that not every good idea is actually good — and that’s okay. Every “not quite right” idea gets you closer to the one that fits.
The Formula 50 Mindset
We built Formula 50 to help other founders find those moments of clarity — those resets that turn potential into progress. Whether it’s a fresh idea, a shift in strategy, or just a nudge to look at your business through a different lens, that’s where real growth happens.
Stepping back doesn’t mean slowing down. It means giving yourself the space to see your next move more clearly. And if we can help other founders do that, then we’re doing exactly what we set out to do.
